Check out our frequently asked questions about COVID 19 tests and answer your questions.
For PCR tests we need to collect the sample preferably 48 hours before travelling. It is possible to get the results on the same day – if the test is performed by 4 pm – with an additional cost. This is called Fast-track or express test.
Please note the lab does not open on Sundays.
If you only need an antigen test, you can have this done on the same day as the result takes 15 minutes.
We can print the results, however, in general, you will receive them by email, which is a valid proof at official checkpoints.
You are advised to make an appointment to avoid crowding due to Covid 19. You can make an appointment by calling us on 0034 977 351 212 or by contact form for this website. We will contact you back asap.
We recommend antigen test and PCR. The antigen test is highly useful during the first five days of showing symptoms.
For PCR test we use a thin swab which is introduced in the nose and throat. A sample can also be taken from the saliva, a method useful in children or patients who have problems in their nostrils. You should check that saliva tests are accepted in your destination.
For antigen tests we use ultra-thin swabs introduced in the nose and/or throat.
They do not hurt; however, you may have mild discomfort like nasal itching, watery eyes, sneezing, or a sensation of water inside the nose. This discomfort disappears within minutes.
This is not compulsory for children under 6 years of age in Spain, however, you should check whether it is obligatory in your destination.
You can have PCR, antigen and rapid antibody tests in our clinic or we can visit you within our area of influence. Please make an appointment and ask for information on our travelling expenses.
To get a serology test in venous blood we can provide a medical prescription and direct you to a lab.
The most reliable is the nasopharyngeal PCR, though the rapid antigen test is also frequently used.
It is highly variable, but in general, it takes about 3 to 5 days to detect a sufficient viral load. Testing earlier could produce a false negative result (a negative result due to a very low viral load). If you have symptoms, especially during the first 5 days, the rapid antigen test is very reliable (98&percent; sensitivity and 100&percent; specificity)
To determine if you have generated defences to the infection with SARS-CoV-2 we use mainly two types of tests, a qualitative test, or rapid antibody test, performed with a single drop of venous blood with results back 12-15 minutes later and the quantitative test, via a sample of venous blood studied in a lab, which detects not only the presence of antibodies (defences) but also the type and quantity (titer) of each one (IgM, IgG, IgE).
SARS CoV2 rapid antigen test (high sensitivity and specificity)
Performed after taking a nasopharyngeal sample using a fine swab with a result in 15 minutes. Detect the presence of the virus. Indicated in symptomatic people and screening of positive contacts. PVP: € 35.00. We deliver certified results.
Test PCR (rRT-PCR)
Taking nasopharyngeal samples for the determination of CRP in the laboratory. Indicated for positive contacts and for trips abroad. Various modalities:
The express mode increases the price.
Ask us for the result in English if you need it!
Qualitative rapid test for COVID-19 IgG and IgM antibodies
Determination in 12 minutes of the antibodies (defenses) produced by the body after a COVID-19 infection. It is done with a small prick on the finger.
